Advisor to Fiscal Court


The Ohio County Attorney's office provides legal counsel and advice to the Ohio County government. As an advisor to Fiscal Court, some of the County Attorney’s specific responsibilities include:
  • Attend fiscal court meetings and give legal advice to the fiscal court and other county offices
  • Institute or defend civil actions in the courts where the government has an interest
  • Review and revise all ordinances


The Ohio County Fiscal Court Meetings normally begin at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the auditorium of the Ohio County Community Center. The meetings are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. The Fiscal Court members are presently:
  • Judge Executive:  David Johnston
  • Magistrate 1st District:  Sam Small
  • Magistrate 2nd District:  Jason Bullock
  • Magistrate 3rd District:  Joe Barnes
  • Magistrate 4th District:  Larry Keown
  • Magistrate 5th District:  Larry Morphew
